Benefits of the HIVe

Who we are & What we do

Who we are & What we do

Who we are:

  • We are gay men and other MSM, transgenders and marginalised individuals;

  • We live with and/or are affected by HIV, health and human rights;

  • We are activists, professionals, educators, and researchers;

  • We are sex workers; and

  • We are invested in the mission of Universal Access to health and human rights.

What we do:

  • We are building the HIVe.

  • The HIVe is a long-term, multi-phase, multi-level, collaborative, participatory, reflexive and performative network;

  • We organise the '3-Os' - onsite, online and ongoing - learning experiences;

  • We reflexively facilitate the development of marginalised communities;

  • We use low-cost networking and digital technologies like social networks and mobile phones;

  • We provide online mentoring;

  • We build capacities to learn, collaborate, and reflect together;

  • We share knowledge and make new knowledge;

  • We combine different ways of seeing the world to better understand our lives and our work;

  • We make new products and services to serve our needs and goals;

  • We provide access to valuable resources, opinion, and advice among all types of people;

  • We make sense of the challenges of health and human rights together;

  • We study what we do to get better at what, how and why we do what we do;

  • We write and publish so others can learn what we are doing;

  • We widen access to participation;

  • We reduce inequity;

  • We fight for social justice; and

  • We are democratic and inclusive.

We aim to solve the problems of Universal Access to health and human rights for all people around the world, especially the most marginalised, and reduce the spread of HIV.

We are you.
